Jutta: A Rainha do bluff

Vão na conversa dela, vão...

Jutta Kleinschmidt is predicting a David and Goliath battle on January’s Dakar Rally.

The 44-year-old German will take on the mighty Mitsubishi and Volkswagen teams in her BMW X3 run by the privateer X-Raid squad.

And event's only female winner believes a top-five finish is as much as she can hope for when the event reaches its finish in Senegal.

Kleinschmidt said: “For us, the rally will be like the fight of David against Goliath. It would be great to get a top-five finish in this excellent field.

“As I've finished four times on the podium since 1999, that would be an even more ambitious goal to achieve, but it can only be a dream.” for a

Kleinschmidt will be co-driven by fellow woman Tina Thorner alongside the sister cars of Nasser Al-Attiyah and Guerlain Chicherit.

But, having been given the chop by Volkswagen last year, she has lucked in, and thinks the three-litre X3 is the best car she has ever driven on rough stages, following an appearance in the UAE Desert challenge a month ago.

Kleinschmidt added: “As the development permanently continues, the BMW X3CC is certainly the best car so far that I have had at my disposal to contest the Dakar Rally.

“But the opposition has made big steps forward. Obviously, Mitsubishi is the big favourite, whereas I find it hard to judge the performance of Volkswagen currently after their results at Dubai.”
